Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 teaspoon sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). You can use an electric mixer or a wooden spoon.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract until combined.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie for spreading.

Sprinkle with Sea Salt: If desired, lightly sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie dough ball.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked. They will continue to cook on the baking sheet after being removed from the oven.

Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Enjoy your delightful chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage!
