Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped Oreo cookies

For the Cookie Dough Layer:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated for safety)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

For the Topping:

3-4 whole Oreos, crushed

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Layer:

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined.

        - Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

          - Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until just combined, ensuring there are no large lumps.

            - Fold in the chopped Oreos gently. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

Bake the Brownies: Bake the brownie layer in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few crumbs are okay). Allow to cool in the pan while you prepare the cookie dough.

                Make the Cookie Dough Layer:

                  - In another mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

                    - Mix in the vanilla extract.

                      - Gradually add the heat-treated flour and salt, stirring until well combined. The dough should be thick.

                        - Fold in the mini chocolate chips.

Assemble the Layers: Once the brownie layer has cooled a bit, carefully spread the cookie dough layer over the top of the brownies, using a spatula to flatten it out evenly.

Add Toppings: Sprinkle the crushed Oreos and mini chocolate chips over the cookie dough layer for an extra crunch and flavor.

Final Bake: Return the assembled treat to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes. The cookie dough layer should be set but still soft.

Cool and Serve: Allow the Cookie Dough Oreo Brownies to cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes before slicing them into squares. For best flavor, refrigerate them for a couple of hours before serving to let the layers meld together beautifully.
