Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (preferably low sodium)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

2 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp sesame oil

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked white rice (for serving)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you're using them. Place the chicken breasts in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over. Seal or cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for more flavor).

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Sear the Chicken: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Add Marinade and Bake: Pour the reserved marinade over the seared chicken in the skillet. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

Glaze and Serve: Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes while the juices settle. To enhance the glaze, you can return the skillet to the stovetop over medium heat and simmer the sauce for an additional 5 minutes if desired. Serve the chicken over cooked white rice, drizzle with the thickened sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
